Editorial Policy

Guides on the DocuTools blog are written by </eUK>, the independent developer who also builds and maintains every tool on this site. There is no content agency and no pool of anonymous writers. Every article shows its author, its publication date and, when the content has changed, the date of the last substantive update.

We write about the problems our tools exist to solve: working with PDFs, preparing resumes for applicant tracking systems, and taking photos that meet passport or CV requirements. The test for every article is simple. It should still be useful to a reader who never opens one of our tools. Where a free built-in option, such as Print to PDF or Mac Preview, is the better answer, we say so.

• Claims about DocuTools tools are checked against how the tool actually behaves, including what it cannot do. If a tool has a limit, such as not carrying PDF bookmarks into a merged file, the article says so.
• Official rules, such as passport photo sizes or e-signature laws, are taken from the issuing authority. These rules change, so articles tell you to confirm with the official source before you submit anything.
• Comparisons with other products are based on each provider's public pages at the time of writing. Free tiers and prices change often, so verify current terms with the provider.
• Figures from outside sources are presented as such and are not our own research unless the article says it is.

Writing tools, including AI assistants, may help with research, drafting, editing and checking. They do not publish anything. A person reviews every article before it goes live, checks its claims against the sources above, and is responsible for what it says.

No company pays to be mentioned, ranked or reviewed on DocuTools. We do not publish sponsored posts and do not use affiliate links, so we earn nothing when you choose another product we mention. If the site shows advertising in future, ads will be clearly separated from editorial content and will have no influence on what we recommend.

We review articles when the rules or tools they describe change. An article is marked “Updated” only after a substantive change, such as a correction or new information, never for cosmetic edits.

If you find a mistake, use the “Report an error” link at the end of any article or the contact page. Confirmed errors are corrected in the article, and its update date changes to show it.
